Service Description

Reading in English opens the door to better language skills, broader vocabulary, and stronger thinking — but just as importantly, it’s a way for children to connect, imagine, and share ideas. Read & Play English is a special opportunity for young English speakers to enjoy stories, talk about books, and explore their creativity together. Designed for children aged 6–9 who speak English fluently or at a strong A2 level, the club meets eight times a year on Saturday mornings and is led by a qualified reading and literacy teacher. Children receive a reading list at the start of the year and are encouraged to read the selected books either independently or with a parent, grandparent, or sibling. Each session includes book discussion, fun language-based activities, and a creative project connected to the story. Books to read: TERM II 1. The Snow Queen by Hans Christian Andersen (please read till 7th February) about the book: Gerda’s friend Kay is missing! The Snow Queen has taken him to her ice palace, far away, and now brave Gerda must find him and bring him back home... 2. Follow the Swallow by Julia Donaldson (please read till 14th March) about the book: When Apollo the swallow flies to Africa, Chack the blackbird wants to send him a message. But Africa is far away. Can a jumpy dolphin, a grumpy camel, a greedy crocodile or a playful monkey help to deliver the message? 3. A Colourful Wish by Noel Grammont (please read till 18th April) about the book: Pipkin is a most extraordinary rabbit who discovers that he has a surprising talent. 4. Cock a Doodle-Doo, Mr. Sultana! by Michael Morpurgo (please read till 6th June) about the boo: This rich and greedy sultan loves his jewels more than anything. So when he loses a diamond button he is very angry. He wants his jewel back!
